Harz
On 110 km from West to East and up to 40 km from North to South, the Harz combines three federal states (Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia) and five districts. However, the Harz is one of the most popular holiday regions in Germany not only because of its size, but also because of the wide range of offers. Visit castles, churches and monasteries along the Romanesque Road, experience mining tradition in one of the visitor mines or at the Oberharz Wasserregal, the world’s most important pre-industrial water management system for mining. Hikers can test their fitness on the most popular hiking trail in Germany – the Harzer Hexenstieg.
In summer, dozens of lakes and ponds invite you to swim. In winter, the Harz turns into a tobogganing and cross-country skiing paradise.
Summarized under the three pillars of pure culture, pure nature and pure fun, the Harzer Tourist Association provides information on all offers in the region.

Discover the Harz on a scale of 1:25
Visiting the Harz in just one day? The miniature park “Kleiner Harz” makes it possible. In a few minutes you can reach from the Kaiserpfalz Goslar to the Collegiate Church Quedlinburg and the Wernigerode Castle. In Thale, the cable car cruises up to the Hexentanzplatz (witch’s dance ground) like its big example, surrounded by the impressive scenery of the Bodetal. The approximately 60 models of the most important Harz sights were produced on a scale of 1:25 and impress above all with their attention to detail. Every small window frame, every roof tile and every decoration was taken from the original. The miniature buildings are framed by the lovingly designed landscape of Bonsai trees, mountains, rocks and streams.
With its numerous model locomotives and wagons, which run over a total length of approx. 400 m, train enthusiasts' hearts beat faster. At the replicated Wernigerode Westerntor railway station, young and old can admire the miniature Harzer Schmalspurbahn, which winds its way through the mountain landscape to the Brocken. At the “Kleiner Harz” construction site, children can dig to their heart’s content or play hide and seek in the willow labyrinth. In the fairytale pavilion, legends and fairy tales can be listened to.
The miniature park is part of the garden architecture of the Wernigeröder Bürgerpark. The 15 ha large area of the former state horticultural show has many other experiences in store for you.
Highlights from Quedlinburg such as the Collegiate Churches of St. Servatii and St. Cyriakus, the town hall, the Klopstockhaus, the Ständerbau and the train station of Gernrode can be visited there as well as the originals.
